So with all the hullabaloo going on about AR15's and assault rifles would you buy one right now? I admit, I do not have a single gun that would fit into the assault rifle category or the high cap mag category. Never thought I really needed one. Only thing that might/would fit would be my Rem 512 Tube feed and my Rem 572 tube feed. (Wonder how they would handle those two. ;D ;D But I have been thinking of the possibility of buying an AR just so I can say I have one so I can be in the long line of AR owners and show my support of owning them. Then get rid of it when all this is over. Problem is, I just do not need one and really have a hard time justifying the ownership of one when there are so many others I would like to own. About a year ago I started a project of working on corp. to get them to import a Interstate Arms Co. Dickinson SXS made by AKUS of Turkey. AKUS is the company that built the Kimber SXS and the Smith and Wesson SXS's which are awesome shotguns. I had bought everything that Interstate Arms Co. had in stock and sold them through my store. Then had great feed back and sold very well. Well I finally got some attention in my hollering and we started importing them. English grip, double and single triggers, ejectors, 28" barrels, screw Tigue chokes 5 of them, and they come in 28,20,16 and 12 gauge. I own a Arrietta 803 live bird gun which is an awesome SXS in itself. I have been thinking of trading it in and buying a full set of the Dickinson's. That would have to be totally sweet. Might look a bit better than my old Rem 1100 that sits next to the bed with the synthetic stocks, rifle sighted barrel, flashlight mount on the magazine tube and a bushnell holo sight mounted on top. ;D ;D. The probably would not get along at all sitting next to each other. But I keep thinking hmmm a full set of the SXS's would be SWEETTTTTT. So do I really need an AR15.

If you just want one because you think you need it now, I would wait for sure. You will be able to get them in the future black rifles. but maybe only hold 10 rounds. I mean in the last 10 years that is what has been selling like hotcakes, I see 2 sold for each 22 lr. If you aare going to get one and collect of safe hid away then a colt 6920 or 6940 LEO will most likely see the highest return on investment in the future, Or one of the high dollar customs.
700 dollar olympic arms m4 copies that were 700 before the shooting are selling easy for 1400l Walmart had the Colt 6920 for just over 1000 before the shooting. I bet they are at 3000 right now.
Time is just not right, I so often want to get a time machine and go back to 1983. 39 dollar sks and 250 ak's full auto ar-15 and 600 dollar pythons.

When I got oout of the business i sold my AR and never looked back. I just don't have a use for one and don't like the looks. I am into classic style rifes and muzzleloaders. I have no real complaint with them and I had an AR with a bull barrel that doubled as my varmit gun but I prefer a bolt gun.

Bounce, a Ruger 25-06 for 350$ sounds like a good deal. Bill, my answer would be: no, I wouldn't buy an AR. . .but then, I wouldn't buy one at about any time. Being a handloader, I don't care for a rifle that flings my carefully prepped brass off into the weeds. I never was a big fan of the 223, either. From an investment point of view, I think now is THE WORST time to buy an AR. With all the hullabaloo, everyone's going to be pricing Ar stuff at 2-3 times what it's worth. When all the puffery dies down, and AR's don't get banned (that;'s my prediction, just opinion) AR's will go back to the prices they were a year ago - and you'll be sitting on one you paid 3x the going price for.

All pretty much echoed my thoughts. I really think that if I am going to buy something I would be better served buying a full set of the Dickinson SXS's in 28.20.16 and 12 gauges and forgetting about the AR's ;D Besides that I don't even like the AR's I do like the Dickinsons. ;D

I would not buy one right now even if I had the money and they were readily available. I've personally just never cared for the "AR-type" guns. I will have to admit, however, that ever since my son built his that I have enjoyed shooting it. They are fun to shoot.

Just back from the INDY 1500 weekend gunshow.
600 dollar delton ar's are now 1500. I did not see an ar for under 1500. There were plenty for sale and lots of buy me flags sticking out of barrels on the walkers.
I got to handle a tommy gun (Auto ordance) and you are correct what a heavy piece of hardware and the asking price was 1900 with unknown drums or mags..
The top end Colt AR's were not at the show but I did see a nice larue custom shop AR for 3500.
I saw no pistols deals on the tables that were good deals. No H&K p7's, No pinned and ressesed smiths either. I did see a couple of contender barrels around 135 to 150 but they were lenghts and calibers I already have. A couple of colt Pythons went from 1300 last show to 1900 this show. Same guns I saw at the Muncie show december 5.
Jim I saw a 1963 mountie for 775 and a model 39M for 700. A savage model 24 camper for 595
1000 rounds of 5.56 m855 federal 1100 dollars. So might as well shoot 308's,
I paid 10 dollars admission. 5 for us to park. I sold 3 glock 33 round mags for 411 dollars and had 100 in my pocket. I purchased one sling stud for the 10-22 target for a dollar and purchased a 64,99 bullhide belt for 27 dollars. I walked the whole show. Made a couple of offers on a couple of target pistols.
I got a free vortex hat, a couple of pieces of alligator jerky free.
Dad got 2 marlin bullseyes for 2 dollars and 2 full mint shape remington dog bone 22 lr boxes for 25 dollars. He was negociating with a guy over a 50 dollars rem dog bone and I told him I was going outside for a bad habit break and when he was done to come on out and we would go to breakfast. I was done and it was getting crowded inside not 2 feet between people.
I was smoking 8 feet from the front door and a guy stopped and I saw a pistol handle with a lanyard attachment sticking out of his jacket pocket.
I asked how much do you want for your victory model revolver. He said Make me a offer. I looked at it and offered 175. Parkerized but with good grips in fake bone plastic and some honest wear on the parkerizing. the cylinder has a spot the parkerize is gone and a little bit of what looked like light rust but dusty like. Seemed to spin without wobble and timing and lockup were good.
Hw said make it 300 and I have a wood home made box and one old box of ammo and a holster. I was hesitant but it has what looks like british proof marks on it but the grips are pure 1950's cowboy. So a service pistol resold on the surplus market and given the 1950's cowboy movie look.
We walked to the trunk of the car and there is the old oak wood box with the smooth wood grips, a brown leather holster with some very dry leather with a full flap cover and a box of ammo marked 45 auto rim and about 13 half moon clips. He said take it all 300 cash so I did.
I think I might have overpaid a little bit. I think the half moon clips are from a m1917 and so is the ammo maybe the case also since the 38 fits loose n it. Maybe I can move the box of ammo and moon clips. The rest is getting cleaned as I type. These are not the greatest revolvers around but a true service pistol and almost 100 years old. The box must have been a craft item as it has a full lenght back hinge and bovetail edges.
Serial number is V320XXX so it is a true Victory model, Nice upgrade from glock mags.

I see a ton of people trying to take advantage of all that is going on right now. Really pisses me off. We still sell at the regular prices. When we get them in their on a first come first serve basis only. No holds or phone orders. Then they bring them back and try to sell them for more than they paid for them and I just tell them to get lost more or less. Now the big scare is ammo and handguns. No ammo to buy, handguns are going fast and selling at the regular prices. Its just nuts. The only good thing to come of all this is that their trading in the collectable guns to get this junk. I took in two 39A's and one a Golden 39A in one day. Sold them the next for a decent price and did not discount them at all and both were in about 95% condition. Kind of made me feel bad as I always thought I wanted one but just never could pony up the bucks for one. So in the end, someone is going to get stuck with some very very expensive AR's and are really going to get hung out to dry with them along with a bunch of other guns. I would laugh at the craziness of it all but it is just too sad.
