So if it does well how far are you out too with it. I can just see this now, a 2500 yard PD

Yes it should shoot 3 times farther than a 22-250

I suspect that it might even do 4 times Bounce.

How far does a 22-250 shoot accurately?

Off-hand at a 1/2 mile is beyond my proficiency level

Most of the times I have seen someone do that off hand it has been pure luck. Not saying it can't be done but I can guarantee you that it is going to be pretty much luck if it does happen. Hell even I get lucky sometimes. ;D ;D ;D ;D But to do it on demand. Nope, Nada, Nighn. I can remember a guy we both know Bounce. His initials are DB. He did it quite often. But what few know is that he missed probably 95% of the time but that was something that few heard about. They only heard about the times that he did hit. Another guy in that same area with the last name that started with a P (can't remember his first name ;D ) was also touted to be another person that could do that. More often than not they missed but they both used to shoot from their vehicle using the window to rest on and both of the shot enough that they knew just about how much to hold over and could get pretty lucky. The first one traded his gun in and I ended up with it. He said it was shot out. Nope it wasn't. It had just never been cleaned and was so full of copper that its a wonder it hit anything. I also know how he loaded his .22-250. He would dump the powder into a bowl and first size his case and then scoop up a full case of powder and take a bullet and crush it into the case. He would use a Sierra 52 gr BT bullet. He got lucky a lot. I shot that rifle a lot during the time I owned it and made some very lucky shots with it. Bit it did not shoot that great, maybe half inch groups. Sure wasn't any magic gun that was for sure. But if you followed what he did things could work. He knew how far to hold over at the 1/4 mile fence line and the 1/2 mile fence line and shot those distances a lot. Enough to know the hold overs pretty closely but anything in between was a hit or miss thing and even the 1/2 mile line was pretty hit or miss with no guarantee. Sure wasn't precision shooting that was for sure. I think that if he would of had a scope like the ones were using now he would of been even better than he was. Haven't seen or talked to him in years so I don't know what he is doing now. I will say this though. He was good, good enough and practiced enough that he knew about what his drops were to make it work more than the average person could.

Still working @ the locker but not enough coyotes anymore for him to keep in practice. BTW I wouldn't stand on the halfmile line and let him shoot @ me would you?

No I would not and yes old Gorge used his pickup or the window for a rest most times but I had seen him dile in a coyote standing off hand more than once with usualy 3 to 6 0r 7 shots. Not shure anymore but I think gorge used a Reminton And don't recall his scope brand. Gorge was a tall man & well built before the cancer took him and men like this are usaly good at long range I have noticed off hand. I'm talking the 6' 4 + type They are steady as heck were you get your luck bill I have never figured out? LOL.

Short and fat. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I know, its practice, practice, practice. And if that don't work do it again. Its the only thing that works.
Hell I would not stand at the half mile line and let anyone shoot at me. Unless I have a gun to shoot back with.
Half mile is next to impossible for anyone off hand and I know some very good shots.
