It is nice when you combine good quality components with good conditions. All of these things came together for me this past weekend while shooting at 1,000 yards. This is my best 5-shot group at 1,000 yards. I know a good number of you routinely do this good and better, but recently I have only been able to shoot one 1,000 yard match each year. Eric Wallace (Nawakwa Accuracy) built this rig and it shoots and tracks like a dream. Non-designated BAT action, 1-9 twist Bartlein barrel chambered in 7mm WSM, Nawakwa brake, Jewell trigger, Nawakwa bench stock (6” forend and 3” at the grip), Sightron S-III 8-32 with target dot, and I am using a prototype MAX Rest. Winchester brass, Fed 210M's, H-1000, and 180 grain JLK's. Redding T-7 press and competition dies. The 5-shot group was shot this past Saturday south of Sundance, WY at the 6th Annual MOA Cold Turkey Long Range Handgun Match at 1,000 yards and measured 3.8715 inches. www.moaguns.com/coldturkey.htmlWe have two classes in this match, and I shot this group during the Heavy Gun Class (Specialty Handgun weighing no more than 16 pounds and a barrel not exceeding 18”). To say the least, I am a happy camper-Thank you to all who helped me accomplish this. Ernie

Way to go Ernie. So Eric didn't kick your butt this time huh. ;D Wait till I talk to that kid. He is going to have to bear down a bit. By the way, I really like that Sebrest you have and the way that pistol rides the bag in the rear is awesome. Anyway congrats. I keep seeing story's about your pistols but you never talk about your 6.5X47 rifle. I picked up a 6.5 Creedmore and one of these days we are going to have to go play with that 1000 yd target a bit.

Maybe I just need to look at a better long range pistol instead of trimming down 35 rem brass for 2 inch groups at 100 yards.
Great group and don't tell the deer hunters of Indiana what you can do with a pistol like that. The woods (Well beanfields) and open country would full of mega pistols. I can see just setting in my grandma's kitchen having coffee and talking while scanning the back 1000 yard field for deer.

Might have to come out west if the construction work in the area drops off again. It is slowing down and making a living at it here in Indiana is as tough as I have seen it in nearly 20 years.
Figured a tax deduction jusnt out west might be in order. Maybe twomoons will let me fill out a application at gunsmoke. The bill at cabelas, the out to the oil fields up in N dakota out to gillette for some long range pistol work and finish things up seeing red and Jim in st Louis.
Lots OF IBEW locals to check out on the way. Thing is the wife does not like the winter in Indiana and I would be in a man camp in N. Dakota.

I doubt if your wife would like N.Dakota. ;D There are a huge number of family's that live down here in SoDak while their husbands work in NoDak. The time off is pretty liberal so the husbands get back home often. Gillette has slowed down considerably as some of the mines have lost contracts with power plants due to them switching from coal fired to gas fired. Housing is still doing well in the area so good luck on the hunt and hope all the best for you.

So far I have survived 4 layoff of workers we had 22 at the start when I came on board at this site. As of today there are 4 of us left. The 4th and 5th floors are almost done completely. and the 1st floor is several weeks away. It is hard being Union Construction (IBEW communications worker) and the powder river basin of Wyoming has never been very union friendly. I used to never worry about having work as there was plenty and I am good at it, Now it is not all about being good or having the knowledge it is about who you know and how not so much about what you have in your brain/skills or work ethic.
I am not picky about what I might do but getting 25.70 Plus 5.50 per hour health and welfare plus my retirement which does not come out of the take home pay is hard to find anything better here. I just hate the feeling that the axe is coming down every week.
Still other than my gun habit (Semi savings as I have had to sell some nice ones in te past) we barely make it here and the cost of living is fairly low.
If the axe falls I am going to check things out. I have hope here still but am ready for something different,
