and how is all this better than a worm? Jabba That is a good question!! One only you can answer for yourself. But I quess it's just one more arrow in your quiver?When the fish are feeding on insects on the surface, a subsurface bait is not what they want. I have seen times where bait, would catch nothing and Flies were the only thing they would take. (Besides Bait can be messy). I like the freedom of not having to carry a heavy tacklebox. I like to pocket a flybox with an assortment of dry,flies wet flies and poppers and be free to go anywhere along the bank of a pond or lake and know I have all I need to catch fish.

"I have seen times where bait, would catch nothing and Flies were the only thing they would take." I've seen that, too- it's more common than you'd think. Around here, anyway, a lot of the folks that use worms for trout in streams, use a fly rod for their worm fishing.
