Curt my friend came over Friday toting his latest find. He was at a farm sale and bought a 22 that no one wanted, the barrel was shot out and the rifling was gone!
It was a Mossberg TARGO 22 smoothbore of which they made less than 500 in the 40's. He gave under $150 for the gun and we did a little shooting with it. I have shot 22 shot loads from rifles before and was totally unimpressed but the little Trago gun would put all it's shot on a 10" steel plate at 10 yards and would be good on pests at 15-20 I would guess. Now he is looking for the under barrel thrower that came with the gun.

Interesting! I can vaguely recall someone marketing a similar kind of small bore shotgun in the 50's or 60's. . I think that may have been a 9mm, but I can't recall who made it.

Pretty shure Winchester & remington had smooth bore .22 rifles, Winchester had a 9mm as I have one, they were made in the 20's as to the 9mm. Last remington I saw at a gun show they wanted over $500.00 for it and it was from the 50's I think? I'm shure I could look up model numbers if need too just don't want to take the time now.

I sold one of those sets complete about 5 years ago. Still in the Box. Kind of neat as they have a thrower that attaches to the barrel and it would toss a miniature clay and let you shoot it all at the same time. The thrower can be worth as much as the gun is in good condition.

That's the critter and it works even better with modern CCI shot loads.
