I wish Winchester would chamber 25-06 in their Model 70. I can't believe they don't, but, according to their website they don't. Oops, don't mean to hijack the thread. . . D-D, how about a nice 256 Newton? You don't see those every day.

Go buy a Remington SPS Varmint S.S. throw away the stock and put on a H.S. Precision stock and get a really good scope you can dial in and go have fun. Sounds a bit mundane don't it. Believe me it isn't. Its a total hoot to play with. Next time I'm up I will bring mine and let you play with it.

Marlin 1894css in 357 mag. www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/1894centerfire/1894CSS.asp Something different yet practical.... Kind of an all around type of rifle..... plinking, targets, yotes, rabbit, tree rat, deer, bear. 9+1 if you ever need it for 2 legged critters. Deer to tree rats. Stainless steel so you can keep in handi in a truck, Not a long range gun but a quick carbine is often overlooked. Good old doctor skinner is making his peep sight in stainless steel now so get a peep setup and don't put on a scope. . Might have to remove the plastic looking marshield finish off the wood and have twomoons fix the dreaded marlin jam for you. Seems marlin can't do it in house anymore with the move and all.

You can shoot a buck from ridge top to ridge top with the .45-90 but you won't like it. Even with black powder loads that light weight will bump you a bit. Pretty comfortable in my Sharps but will still push you. Especially with the 535 grain bullet.

Bet you don't have a plain old mundane .308 either. I use to think of them as BORING. I don't think of them as that any more.

Let's see. . on the 'not boring' list . . . 240 Weatherby? You don't see those every day. Or, if you want a long distance dialer, why not a 257 Weatherby? The new 338 Federal? Or, for a varmint rifle, how about a 220 Swift? D-D, I don't know what you have already, so, that makes it a bit more difficult. Got a 280 Remington? Very capable cartridge - hard to beat as an 'all around' game cartridge that won't loosen your fillings. For something in the BP era, how about a Spencer? I'm not sure if anyone's making a repro Spencer now, but I've seen them not too long ago.
