I know. But I still feel bad whenever I wound something. It's part of being not only an ethical hunter... but an ethical person I think. I hate not killing deer clean, and wounding one without recovery is even worse.
I had a little better shot than the one I took. But I was waiting for an even better one when they turned and started leaving. VERY slowly right to left.

With anything, you always take the first good shot you get. And with turkeys, that's especially true because anything can go wrong with them.

Well... 40 yards to me ain't a GOOD shot. and I thought he was coming towards me still. Then he turned.
Then I shot.
But I get your point. I was just not comfortable of it being a 95% type of shot... which is what trips my trigger finger. When I took the shot I took... I figured it to be 75%. And, once again, I came up short.
turkeys frustrate the HELL outta me.
