I introduced a topic last year about the spread of cougar. I really have my doubts though. I can't imagine them travelling too far east of the Rockies. Cal - Montreal This I can not agree with Cal. Iowa DNR has acknowledged 350 confirmed sightings in Iowa and 2 were in Des Moines. Cats like all critters are oportunists and with the glut of deer available on the Central Plains they are likely to follow the feed. They are going to rarely be seen due to there nature of avoiding humans. With standing corn and beans it is unlikely to see one, but now crops are out for the winter there is a better chance.

I just read a report of at least two lions sighted here in Wisconsin in the Wisconsin Outdoor news. Now obviously I look at those reports with a bit of scepticism but who knows? We do have a few Elk here now and honestly with our deer population exceeding 2,000,000 deer and all the crazy things the DNR is doing to limit the herds growth I could see the possibility that someone had the brilliant idea of releasing a few cats here. BTW the area I live in is open for deer hunting from Nov 19 to Jan 3. We are allowed up to 4 deer per day! Yes thats right this is not a typo! 4 deer per day. Ever since the CWD scare the DNR is trying to eliminate deer here.

I went to the penthouse blind on the creek bottom this morning and what did I find. What appears to be two day old lion tracks going by it. Just my luck I never get to see one.

I'm not sure; but this would explain why the deer & turkeys are so nervous......
