I read that it is recomended to shoot games on the chest/lung area, & broad side. I fully understand that head shot is not recomended using a bow.....my question here: Why neck shot (which is a more lethal spot and not many bones there) is not recomended also?
Also, in case your arrow hit right on the rib's bone (not between the rib bones), did it through/cut the bone easily?

A good broadhead will go through ribs-Heart/Lung shot is the highest percentage shot

"I like a 15 and 25 yds pin...Under 20 yds I like the 25 pin...etc" What is "pin", btw?....Is that the "fluorescent dots" inside of the front sight? The "pin" is those flourescent dots.

Now I know what Red means with the "pin". Thanks for the explanation Ernie!
Mine has 3 pins, btw. I will set them at 10, 20 and 30m.

Red, i will take my doctor up on that in the future. part of it is pride part of it is pure lazey on my part. i really should look into it though because i have 160 acres i could bow hunt 35 min from my door step. go into work at 6:30 and i could be hunting by 4:00 pm and have 3-4 hrs of hunt time in the early part of the season.

Seb: If I'm reading you correctly? 1" of foam is not going to stop your arrows. I Would Reccomend at least 2 Ft thick as well.

The reason you don't hear people talking about neck shots is the fact that the same people don't recommend neck shots with a gun It's my prefered shot with a rifle or muzzleloader and every single one I've hit just dropped like a ton of bricks. My brother is the king of archery neck shots I've had a couple mixed results with them - if you're perfect, it's effective. On most neck shots, the deer is quartering towards you. If it's not perfect then you have a major problem because you have burried an arrow into the animal leaving only one hole without even hitting anything. Let me refer you to another thread huntingfirearms.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=deer&action=display&thread=1566The chest is a larger target although it does have some areas around it that are troublesome - guts and shoulder. Although with the right bow and broadheads hitting the shoulder may or may not be ok. It really comes down to what you're comfortable with and what shot presents itself. As far as penetration, you have one of the best broadheads on the market with the Muzzy. Our archery shop here stopped selling them because muzzy took production out of the United States. The only problem with a "fixed blade" broadhead is that the broadhead and the regular "field tip" will shoot in different places. So what we do is resight the bow in a week or so before going hunting and then keep it like that through the season. The "mechanical" broadheads shoot like field tips (plus you can get up to a 2 1/2" cut) but you do lose some penetration.

Jim, I mean in 1' (one feet) thick.
Red, I have some broadheads and field tips also, they weight about the same (only 2 or so gr difference) and plan to check how they shoot in different ranges.
I just find my old Cabela Archery catalog (2000) and find some interesting stuffs. I might probably make another release (homemade), limb saver, nock, peep sight, front sight, string silencer, a handy bow press etc later...just for experiment thing. Also for the case. I'm getting love this new stuff...

Is there anyone within a reasonable range of you that sells or works on bows? To me, a bow is way to compicated to buy presses and tie on peep sites, etc. It's easier to go the shop and let the guy take care of it and recomend things. I don't know how many times I've gone in wanting to buy an expensive accessory and my guy talking me out of it and into a cheaper product that does a better job.
See if you can get a 2008 catalog. I think you'd be shocked in the different products 8 years later.

I am not sure.
Actually my bow & the assecories are just fine/nothing wrong at all & ready to shoot...I just like to make experiment/to tinker with.
