actualy i might have lost out on one of the places i hunt. i was suppose to have gone today but if you check the time of my post this morning you'll see i didn't make it. it's a bit of a long story that i don't feel like getting into right now. i still have an oportunity to hit the bro-inlaws place next weekend so not all is lost. i had been hunting on 160 acres just 30 min. from my house when ever i wanted to but it now has an abundance of hunters so i'm out unless i can take off during the week. i do feel a tad warm these days hope i'm not coming down with something come mid week

The wind is suppost to die down to about 15mph and rain is suppost to go down to about 40%
I might just set up my groundblind tommarow morning in hopes of getting a reading on the birds for monday (which the weather isn't much better). I have my doubts they'll gobble tomarrow though.

A huntin I'lla go, a hunting I'lla go, I wish this wind would ******* stop, a huntin I'lla go.
Suppost to be just isolated storms and less than 10mph winds this morning in fulton, but the wind is still howling here.
I have a feeling there won't be much gobbling so I think I'm just going to sit fairly tight today and try likely spots for an hour a time.
I'll fill you in this evening...enjoy work today (grin)

Make sure you keep the wind in your face while you sit on that turkey trail Curtis. You might want to apply some Hen-in-Heat, or maybe a little Tom-in-Rut. & for God sake, don't forget your turkey spur's. You never know, you may have to rattle him in. Good Luck

What a perfect morning. After two days of crappy weather, this morning the sun was out and it was calm. Well, the first bird gobbled at 5:55 and the last bird I heard gobbled at like 5:59 I knew he was going to want to fly down into this field (on private ground) but I was hoping to get him to change his mind. I was just ready to sit down when the bird flew right into the field. And a shot was fired by the guy on the private piece without him even making one call And that was pretty much my day unless you count the 7 hours of walking around wondering where the friggin turkeys were. I walked about 6 miles and made about 6 setups and never did hear a gobble except right at daylight.

You know, I REALLY REALLY HATE turkey hunting, but it's the one bird you get every few years that keep me going

oh well right now i don't care too much as i just had lunch at chevy's and have a margarita in me. Oh man, I've never had so much mexican food in my life Had two plates for lunch at work and big plate before leaving work. I was going to go out for some drinks but #1. I work tomarrow morning #2. I didn't really feel like throwing up all that food tonight In missouri, it seems there are three kinds of turkey hunters 1. the kind that kill every year 2. the kind that get so frustrated they about break their striker in half (dat be me) 3. the kind that really don't know what they're doing in the first place and they are just out to sport their latest, newest, expensive toys. The type of land has everything to do with success. No doubt, if you're on a big chunk of private land you stand a good chance. Also, on public land you stand a decent chance if you live close to a piece of good public ground. But I have to drive 60-90minutes just to get to the nearest decent place (there are some closer but you just don't waste your time there). I don't know the area too well, don't know where the birds are, dont' want to waste the time looking before the season, and I normally hunt when everyone else hunts...with the added disadvantage of parking in parking lots.
