Yeah, the "other one"... Is it just me, or doesn't anyone care about fall turkey hunting Missouri's got it the entire month of October this year instead of two weeks. All that's going to do is mess up the bowhunters - which missouri consistantly screws over. Anything to sell a few more fall turkey tags though... Anyone actually hunt the birds hard this time of year?

Actually me,my brother Dan, and a friend are going to put up a camp on the Rez. in Oct. for fall turkey. The last time Dan and I did this we caught two bank robbers!!!! Then went on to enjoy some turkey huntin'. I thought this would be a good way to make sure everything will be ready for Dec and Stumpjumper's trip out here.

Red, i finaly got to see the bro-inlaws property last week (he bought 200 acres this spring) and if i get half a chance i'm gonna hunt the turkeys this fall so i can get the lay of the land. no one bow hunts yet so i won't be screwing up anyones hunt.

I tell you what - I'm hitting deer season HARD in September before everyone and his inbred cousin brothers bow hunt the second half of October and all the people wandering through the turkey woods too. I'm taking friday and saturday, monday, tuesday, and wednesday to hunt. I've got a good place with a buck rubbing but once people walk around he'll be killed or run off. So I think I'm going to hit that place hard early since it's only about 75 yards from the parking lot.

Good luck, Red. Just a thought on 'messing up the bowhunters' ..... maybe the bowhunters are messing up the fall turkey season? All in how you look at it, I guess. Small game season goes on during bow season, at least in my state..... I guess I kinda wonder at the mindset that bowhunters have exclusive rights to the woods....

You know Jack, you're actually right. It's all public property for any person to use for any reason. I normally would agree with your "bowhunter has right to the woods" statement because I do not get along with most bowhunters because they are arrogant ***holes.
I view it as a "level" of hunting importance I view deer hunting as more important than turkey hunting and turkey hunting more important than squirrel hunting.
When I squirrel hunt in september and october, I generally go where no one else is mainly because I do not want to ruin a person's bow hunt. Bowhunting, I believe, is more important than squirrel hunting. Likewise, I will not shotgun hunt turkey in the fall on public property because it requires a lot of walking - and I do not want to ruin someone bow hunt...although I could run a deer right up on them.

dang gum it, i really want to go out into the woods this coming sat for the first day of the fall season here in MO. only problem is i ain't done with my home project, this dang blasted rain yesterday and a couple other times has me backed up. i had plan on screwing down deck boards all weekend long but it rained all day yesterday and i couldn't get a thing done. i have a feeling my fall hunting is going to be short.

What's there to curse about - my semi-auto is still disfunctional so I'll use my bolt action. My bolt action has the old trigger spring in it so I'm sure it will fire.
But I'm sure I'll find something or someone to curse at (grin)

hey red what's wrong with your semi auto? i thought that was all cleared up. anyway not to take this too far off of a turkey subjet but in a couple weeks (maybe even next weekend) i may be able to get out and shoot my .223 and my 7mm that i had worked on a few weeks ago. do you want to join me and heckle at my problems? heck i'll even let ya shoot both of my "RUGERS".

Can't this sat. Sunday the 2nd would work for me (rams play at noon). The following sat will not work. Don't know about that other sunday yet...
What's wrong with the semi-auto? Two weeks after I get the scope problem fixed, the gun won't fire - the trigger just goes slack. I figure I already but 70 dollars in a 120 dollar gun. I'm not sure if I want to pay the shipping back to marlin or just destroy the thing....
