I like the CZ452 thus far. I could easily go for the Anschutz or even the new Remington 504, but that's a fair amount of money for a .22. A friend has the Brno (CZ), and I'm amazed how good that rifle shoots. That's not to say all examples of that model will shoot as well, but I'm certainly impressed. Gawd, it's taking me longer to decide on a .22 than I usually devote to selecting a centerfire. I'm still looking and still listening too. Thanks for the help. Best wishes.

CZ452 is a good choice Cal. The Anshutz is one of those I have long considered out of reach. Truth is the money I`ve spent on different 22`s would have easily bought one. One day I`ll have a custom squirrel rifle on the anschutz! As far as the Remington 504, I have heard mixed reports. Some shot well and some would not shoot for beans. There is a custom rimfire target smith here in Iowa that had one that would shoot. But he had threaded the action, installed a Lilja Barrel and did his magic(he`s famous for trigger jobs) on the trigger. His name is Brian Volger. If you check Rimfire Benchrest records, his name comes up often. I`ve met him and even shot with him some back when BR50 was shot in Knoxville. As far as your taking longer to decide on a 22 than your centerfires, that just makes good sense. I am willing to bet you will shoot the rimfire more the first year than you do your centerfires in 10 years

hey cal have you bought anything yet or are you still weeding out all the variables? i have looked at the thompson classics and they sure look good but if i was to go semi auto in a new .22 i would have to go ruger just because all the tweeking with aftermarket parts you can do. and if you don't like one of the parts you can resell it easy, no knock against the t/c but it just makes too much sence to me. my next rimfire is gonna be a .17 hmr, i don't know if i'll go semi auto or bolt. if i go bolt it will be a CZ. if i want one this year though i'll have to sell/trade one of my other toys. i have a old marlin 39a mounty i might have to part with, that should get me set up real nice in the CZ or a ruger m77/17

Hey Cal, How about a nice single shot in 17 Mach II? A fine lookin' Winchester 1885 Low Wall... And don't forget to check out the all NEW, and reasonably priced Browning T-Bolt. ....or, maybe since you do most of your shooting from the bench, this dandy Savage in 17 HMR ought to put a smile on your face. It has an accu-trigger too.. ..and of course there is this spiffy new Marlin in 17 HMR with a Stainless Fluted barrel. ...and of course you could spring for the Sako Quad, then you could buy all four barrels in all four rimfire calibers. Just think of all the shooting pleasre this gun would bring you. Why it would be a bargain at any price... ;D

I remember the old Browning T-bolts- I coveted those when I was young- that's a quality rifle.

The "List" price on the Low Wall is $1,014.00. I suppose they'd sell for $850-$875.
The T-Bolt lists for $611.00. I don't think that's bad when you compare it to the Remington 504 at $710.00 and the Ruger 77/22 at $674.00.
